The Big 7 Association celebrated its 25th Annual Scholarship Banquet by bestowing its largest class of scholarships.
While the community service organization awarded two $500 scholarships during its first banquet in 1994, 13 students from Barnwell, Allendale and Bamberg counties received $1,000 scholarships during the Feb. 23 banquet held at Barnwell Elementary School. The Big 7 Association has awarded scholarships to more than 60 students over the past 25 years. This year’s recipients include: Elise Jenkins, De’Siree James, Loren Eubanks, Taylor Grant, Jada Ashley, Jessica Williams, Kyra Shuler, Octavia S. Sexton, Robert-Nickell Bligen, Amber Furguson, Tyran Parker, Kennedy Cave, and Jamera Robinson.
